Welfare
Supporting wellbeing and mental health
The wellbeing of pupils is a key priority for us at Sunnyfields because we know that children who are happy and healthy will have a greater capacity to learn and achieve. We explicitly teach children techniques and strategies to support them in both their physical and mental health, including through PSHE lessons, whole school assemblies and targeted intervention where appropriate.
Supporting children with medical conditions
It is of utmost importance that children can come to school every day and for those with medical conditions they may require additional consideration and support. If your child has a medical condition, please inform the office or your child’s class teacher. This might include long term conditions such as allergies or asthma, or short-term needs such as a prescription for antibiotics.
Where possible, any medication should be taken at home and doses timed to be outside of the school day.
We have a series of forms to be completed to ensure that we have the right information and medication to support your child’s needs. Guidance for this can be found here.
Supporting children with injuries
If your child has an injury at school, they will be attended to by one of our trained first aiders. You will be informed via email when First Aid has been administered.
If your child has a bump to the head at school, we would advise you to follow the NHS guidance below.
If you require any further information, please take a look at our Supporting Children with Medical Needs Policy or ask to speak with our Welfare Officer.
